The Qur’an is filled with supplications the Prophets and the righteous called upon Allah with. Among the most beloved are those that open with “Rabbana” (Our Lord) and “Rabbi” (My Lord). Below are forty such duas with their Arabic, transliteration, meaning, and reference — to memorise, reflect on, and use in your daily prayers.
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina 'adhaban-nar
Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِن نَّسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا
Rabbana la tu'akhidhna in nasina aw akhta'na
Our Lord, do not take us to task if we forget or fall into error.
رَبَّنَا وَلَا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَا إِصْرًا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِنَا
Rabbana wa la tahmil 'alayna isran kama hamaltahu 'alal-ladhina min qablina
Our Lord, do not lay upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us.
رَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ ۖ وَاعْفُ عَنَّا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا ۚ أَنتَ مَوْلَانَا فَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ
Rabbana wa la tuhammilna ma la taqata lana bih, wa'fu 'anna waghfir lana warhamna, anta mawlana fansurna 'alal-qawmil-kafirin
Our Lord, do not burden us beyond our strength. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our Protector, so help us against the disbelieving people.
رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ
Rabbana afrigh 'alayna sabran wa thabbit aqdamana wansurna 'alal-qawmil-kafirin
Our Lord, pour upon us patience, make our steps firm, and give us victory over the disbelieving people.
رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْوَهَّابُ
Rabbana la tuzigh qulubana ba'da idh hadaytana wa hab lana min ladunka rahmah, innaka antal-Wahhab
Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself. Indeed, You are the Bestower.
رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ جَامِعُ النَّاسِ لِيَوْمٍ لَّا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ
Rabbana innaka jami'un-nasi li-yawmin la rayba fih, innallaha la yukhliful-mi'ad
Our Lord, You will gather mankind for a Day about which there is no doubt. Indeed, Allah does not break His promise.
رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Rabbana innana amanna faghfir lana dhunubana wa qina 'adhaban-nar
Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا بِمَا أَنزَلْتَ وَاتَّبَعْنَا الرَّسُولَ فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ
Rabbana amanna bima anzalta wattaba'nar-rasula faktubna ma'ash-shahidin
Our Lord, we believe in what You have revealed and we follow the Messenger, so record us among the witnesses.
رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَإِسْرَافَنَا فِي أَمْرِنَا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ
Rabbana-ghfir lana dhunubana wa israfana fi amrina wa thabbit aqdamana wansurna 'alal-qawmil-kafirin
Our Lord, forgive us our sins and our excesses in our affairs, make our steps firm, and grant us victory over the disbelieving people.
رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقْتَ هَٰذَا بَاطِلًا سُبْحَانَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Rabbana ma khalaqta hadha batilan subhanaka faqina 'adhaban-nar
Our Lord, You did not create this in vain. Glory be to You; protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ مَن تُدْخِلِ النَّارَ فَقَدْ أَخْزَيْتَهُ ۖ وَمَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ مِنْ أَنصَارٍ
Rabbana innaka man tudkhilin-nara faqad akhzaytah, wa ma liz-zalimina min ansar
Our Lord, whoever You admit to the Fire You have disgraced, and the wrongdoers will have no helpers.
رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا سَمِعْنَا مُنَادِيًا يُنَادِي لِلْإِيمَانِ أَنْ آمِنُوا بِرَبِّكُمْ فَآمَنَّا ۚ رَبَّنَا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَكَفِّرْ عَنَّا سَيِّئَاتِنَا وَتَوَفَّنَا مَعَ الْأَبْرَارِ
Rabbana innana sami'na munadiyan yunadi lil-imani an aminu birabbikum fa-amanna. Rabbana faghfir lana dhunubana wa kaffir 'anna sayyi'atina wa tawaffana ma'al-abrar
Our Lord, we heard a caller calling to faith, saying, Believe in your Lord, so we believed. Our Lord, forgive us our sins, remove from us our misdeeds, and cause us to die among the righteous.
رَبَّنَا وَآتِنَا مَا وَعَدتَّنَا عَلَىٰ رُسُلِكَ وَلَا تُخْزِنَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۗ إِنَّكَ لَا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ
Rabbana wa atina ma wa'adtana 'ala rusulika wa la tukhzina yawmal-qiyamah, innaka la tukhliful-mi'ad
Our Lord, grant us what You promised us through Your messengers and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You do not break Your promise.
رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ
Rabbana amanna faktubna ma'ash-shahidin
Our Lord, we have believed, so record us among the witnesses.
رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
Rabbana zalamna anfusana wa il lam taghfir lana wa tarhamna lanakunanna minal-khasirin
Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will surely be among the losers.
رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ
Rabbana la taj'alna ma'al-qawmiz-zalimin
Our Lord, do not place us among the wrongdoing people.
رَبَّنَا افْتَحْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ قَوْمِنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْفَاتِحِينَ
Rabbana-ftah baynana wa bayna qawmina bil-haqqi wa anta khayrul-fatihin
Our Lord, decide between us and our people in truth, and You are the best of those who decide.
رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَتَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِمِينَ
Rabbana afrigh 'alayna sabran wa tawaffana muslimin
Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die in submission to You.
رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِّلْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ ۖ وَنَجِّنَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ
Rabbana la taj'alna fitnatan lil-qawmiz-zalimin, wa najjina birahmatika minal-qawmil-kafirin
Our Lord, do not make us a trial for the wrongdoing people, and save us by Your mercy from the disbelieving people.
رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ تَعْلَمُ مَا نُخْفِي وَمَا نُعْلِنُ ۗ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ مِن شَيْءٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ
Rabbana innaka ta'lamu ma nukhfi wa ma nu'lin, wa ma yakhfa 'alallahi min shay'in fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'
Our Lord, You know what we conceal and what we declare, and nothing is hidden from Allah on earth or in the heaven.
رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ
Rabbi-j'alni muqimas-salati wa min dhurriyyati, Rabbana wa taqabbal du'a'
My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.
رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ
Rabbana-ghfir li wa liwalidayya wa lil-mu'minina yawma yaqumul-hisab
Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers on the Day the account is established.
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا
Rabbana atina min ladunka rahmatan wa hayyi' lana min amrina rashada
Our Lord, grant us mercy from Yourself and guide us rightly in our affair.
رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي
Rabbi-shrah li sadri, wa yassir li amri, wahlul 'uqdatan min lisani, yafqahu qawli
My Lord, expand for me my chest, ease my task for me, and untie the knot from my tongue that they may understand my speech.
رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا
Rabbi zidni 'ilma
My Lord, increase me in knowledge.
رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Rabbana amanna faghfir lana warhamna wa anta khayrur-rahimin
Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy on us, and You are the best of the merciful.
رَّبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Rabbi-ghfir warham wa anta khayrur-rahimin
My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of the merciful.
رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا
Rabbana-srif 'anna 'adhaba jahannama inna 'adhabaha kana gharama
Our Lord, avert from us the punishment of Hell. Indeed, its punishment is constant suffering.
رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wa dhurriyyatina qurrata a'yunin waj'alna lil-muttaqina imama
Our Lord, grant us from among our spouses and offspring comfort to our eyes, and make us a model for the righteous.
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ
Rabbi hab li hukman wa alhiqni bis-salihin
My Lord, grant me wisdom and join me with the righteous.
رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ وَأَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ
Rabbi awzi'ni an ashkura ni'matakal-lati an'amta 'alayya wa 'ala walidayya wa an a'mala salihan tardahu wa adkhilni birahmatika fi 'ibadikas-salihin
My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favour which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and to do righteousness of which You approve, and admit me by Your mercy among Your righteous servants.
رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي
Rabbi inni zalamtu nafsi faghfir li
My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me.
رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ
Rabbi inni lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqir
My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You send down to me, in need.
رَبَّنَا وَسِعْتَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ رَّحْمَةً وَعِلْمًا فَاغْفِرْ لِلَّذِينَ تَابُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا سَبِيلَكَ وَقِهِمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ
Rabbana wasi'ta kulla shay'in rahmatan wa 'ilman faghfir lilladhina tabu wattaba'u sabilaka wa qihim 'adhabal-jahim
Our Lord, You embrace all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who repent and follow Your way, and protect them from the punishment of Hellfire.
رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي فِي ذُرِّيَّتِي ۖ إِنِّي تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَإِنِّي مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
Rabbi awzi'ni an ashkura ni'matakal-lati an'amta 'alayya wa 'ala walidayya wa an a'mala salihan tardahu wa aslih li fi dhurriyyati, inni tubtu ilayka wa inni minal-muslimin
My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favour upon me and my parents and to do righteousness that pleases You, and make my offspring righteous. Indeed, I have repented to You, and I am of the Muslims.
رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلِإِخْوَانِنَا الَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِالْإِيمَانِ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ فِي قُلُوبِنَا غِلًّا لِّلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ رَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ
Rabbana-ghfir lana wa li-ikhwaninal-ladhina sabaquna bil-imani wa la taj'al fi qulubina ghillan lilladhina amanu Rabbana innaka ra'ufun rahim
Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith, and put no rancour in our hearts toward those who believed. Our Lord, You are Kind and Merciful.
رَّبَّنَا عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ
Rabbana 'alayka tawakkalna wa ilayka anabna wa ilaykal-masir
Our Lord, upon You we rely, to You we turn, and to You is the destination.
رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا رَبَّنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ
Rabbana la taj'alna fitnatan lilladhina kafaru waghfir lana Rabbana, innaka antal-'Azizul-Hakim
Our Lord, do not make us a trial for those who disbelieve, and forgive us, our Lord. Indeed, You are the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
رَبَّنَا أَتْمِمْ لَنَا نُورَنَا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Rabbana atmim lana nurana waghfir lana innaka 'ala kulli shay'in qadir
Our Lord, perfect our light for us and forgive us. Indeed, You are over all things competent.
