Guide to Revert to Islam

Reverting to Islam is simple and gentle. The most important thing is to believe that there is only One God, Allah, and that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His final messenger. If you sincerely accept this in your heart, you are already considered a Muslim in the sight of Allah.

To formally enter Islam, you say the Shahada with sincerity. In Arabic: “أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأشهد أن محمدًا رسول الله”. In English: “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” You may say it alone or with others present, but witnesses are not required for Allah to accept your faith.

When a person accepts Islam, all their previous sins are forgiven, and they start with a completely clean record. Allah welcomes them with mercy and love. After declaring the Shahada, you can begin learning Islam step by step. You do not need to know everything immediately. Start by slowly learning how to pray (Salah), even one small part at a time. You can also begin reading or listening to the Qur’an and learn about the life and character of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

If you can, try to visit a mosque or speak with an imam or a friendly Muslim who can guide you. Many communities have revert support groups to help new Muslims understand the basics comfortably. Remember that this journey is personal. It is between you and Allah. Islam does not require you to change everything instantly — only to grow with sincerity and good intention. Allah sees your effort and loves those who seek Him.
